Literature Review According to Miao, a consumer will buy a product or service if the commodity’s market price is equal to his/her reference price. Thus, a consumer’s reference price determines whether a consumer will accept the market price or not. He argued that the consumer’s behavior would not necessarily follow the traditional demand function, which states that holding all factors constant, only price affects the quantity demanded. The reason was that a consumer would adjust his/her reference price or utility function as soon as they learn of new price information. Consumer’s purchase behavior depended on current market prices and the rate at which such information spreads (CHEN, 1999, p. 3). . People have different tastes and preferences and consequently react in diverse ways to the same product/service. Musonera argued that the demographic structure of the region is instrumental in setting prices of goods and services. The young in particular were becoming a major segment. According to Musonera, social factors such as culture, language, level of education and religion were fundamental in setting appropriate prices. Other criteria that determine the price of a commodity include its quality and product’s performance in the market(Musonera et al., 1999, p. 6). There have been several pricing strategies from time to time. These price strategies are dynamic and vary from time to time depending on economic environment and other social factors such as culture and religion. This paper will concentrate on price strategies applied in workplaces. Methodology A series of questions facilitated the study of pricing strategies. The target groups of this research were employees in a manufacturing company in St. Louis City. Half of the respondents were male, and the rest were female. The respondent’s level of education was as follows: 61.1% had a bachelor’s degree, 27.8% masters, 5.6% doctorate and the rest had other level of education. Pricing Theory Pricing as a marketing function requires considerable input from the various departments in an organization. Accountants and financial analysts play a significant role in providing cost and sales data, which are important in decision-making. Computer experts, on the other hand, maintain an updated market information system that provides accurate information important for pricing. Managers ought to understand the significance of pricing and the information required from different departments in an organization. There are two viewpoints to pricing, Economic and Cost-based. Karma Essays - Reincarnation, Shabda, Indian Religions, Free Essays Karma What is the relation, if any, of the concept of varna to the concept of karma? Of karma to the doctrine of reincarnation? The concepts of varna and karma are each closely related to the eastern civilization religions of Hinduism, Buddhism, and Jainism. Varna and karma go hand in hand with each other to explain themselves, as does karma with the doctrine of reincarnation. The complicated explanation of all of these concepts follows. In order to understand the concept of karma, one must first understand the term varna. An appropriate definition would be the rise of class system, which the Hindus adhere to. An English translation of varna, however, is simply the word color (Noss 87). There are four social classes that break down the class system otherwise known as varna. Beginning with the highest class, there is the Brahmins or priests, followed by the ruling Kshatriyas, the Vaisyas (common people), and finally the Shudras (servants). The Brahmins said that if one was a member of any of the first three classes to be extremely careful to avoid the Shudras (Noss 87). Now that we have somewhat of an understanding of varna, the concept of karma can be more easily explained. Karma simply stated is that the way one lives his or her life now determines destiny or fate. In other words, the consequences of ones actions in this life will determine what they do or become in the next life. Therefore, karma is what made one who he or she is in the present life due to the actions the person portrayed in his or her previous life. Karma is the cause of ones destiny in the future life, and is what caused a person to be who he or she is today. Now we will explain the relationship between varna and karma. Lets imagine the following situation. There are two people living in the Vaisyas class of commoners. One of them does only good deeds, has good thoughts, and portrays an all around good sense of well being. The other person commits crimes, has bad thoughts, and portrays an over all sense of evil or no good. The first person will perhaps become a member of the Kshatriya class, moving up on the wheel of samsara. The other person will most likely become a Shudra in the next life. So, perhaps in their most recent previous lives, the first person was a good person of the Shudra class, and samsara declared that he or she rise in class; and the second person may have been a bad person of the Kshatriya class, therefore he or she declined in class. There are endless possibilities, but the relationship between karma and varna is obvious here. Simply stated, karma determines varna. Next we will look at the doctrine of reincarnation as it relates to karma. Reincarnation is an easier concept to grasp than karma. Reincarnation can be defined as the never-ending time line of life. In other words, we all have been someone or something else before or present life began, and after the present life is over, we will become someone or something else again. Karma is what determines who or what we will become. Karma develops our own fate and destiny for reincarnation. The life one lives now determines what he or she will be reincarnated as. Just as karma determined varna, karma now determines reincarnation. Just incase, these ideas are the true meaning of the after-life, I suppose I shall adhere to good karma so that maybe in my next life I can be a member of the highest class.

Epithets in Othello An epithet is an adjective or adjective phrase that characterizes a person or thing. Epithets can often consist of abusive or contemptuous words such as those directed by the professionally offended Iago in Shakespeare's Othello. Iago refers to Othello with damning epithets to suggest the Moor as a lust driven animal that is violating the innocent Desdemona. For instance, he calls Othello, "an old black ram" who is "tupping" Brabantio's "white ewe"(Act I, Scene I: 90-91). He is referring to the fact that Othello is a Moor, or dark skinned man. Iago is also making the insinuation that Othello is, at this moment, copulating with Brabantio's innocent daughter, Desdemona. In addition, Iago warns Brabantio that if he does not rescue his daughter, the "devil" will make Brabantio a grandfather (Act I, Scene I: 93). Again, he is suggesting that Othello is demonic and comparable to a wild animal. He continues erupting insults shouting that a "Barbaray horse" is mounting D esdemona and that Brabantio's nephews will "neigh" and cousins will be "coursers," or strong horses (Act I, Scene I: 113-114). Yet again, Iago is suggesting that Othello is animal-like and that this quality will arise throughout Brabantio's family. It is important to note that in the play production Iago speaks such crude and obscene language while hiding behind several clustered poles below Brabantio's window. This gesture reveals Iago's attempt to remain an "honest man" in the eyes of the other characters while carrying out a plan of revenge. Although Iago's insults toward Othello appear to be racial, it does not make the entire play racist. Iago is so consumed by revenge against Othello, for passing him over for the promotion that he will say or do anything to attain his "peculiar end" (Act I, Scene I: 62).

The references to the body show the physical realities of life as opposed to the ideals that Romeo holds . This speech shows much about the fiery spirit of Mercutio, but it also suggests a more brutal and realistic view of life, contrasting with the romantic of love. So the play using minor characters is a success because Mercutio helps make the pure love for Romeo and Juliet. Second of all Friar Lawrence is a mentor to Romeo and Juliet, but a poor planner.This character also leads to the success of the play. The friar marries Romeo to Juliet and he constantly advises them to act more with caution and provides plans to Romeo and Juliet. In act 4 scene 1 the friar says â€Å"take thou this vial being in bed/And this distilling liquor drink thou off† (4.1.93-101). When Paris wants to marry Juliet, the friar expresses his disapproval of the wedding. When Paris leaves, Juliet asks the Friar for help. The friar provide a plan. The plan includes using the drug for Juliet and deliver the message to Romeo. The friar attempts to make the marriage of Romeo and Juliet is very admirable but are poorly planned.The tragedy of their deaths could not have happened if Romeo have received the message in time. This is due to Friar Lawrence not planning how he is going to fake Juliet's death. It directly  leads to the tragedy in the play. Third of all the nurse makes comic relief by making a lot of inappropriate speeches. The nurse provides a contrast with Juliet because of the nurse’s view which if love is sexual, while Juliet’s way is all romantic. â€Å"If ye should lead her into a fool’s paradise/ it were a very gross kind of behavior† (2.4.151-52). The nurse act as Juliet’s mother. She cares for Juliet and her entire life. The Nurse is loyal to Juliet and she keeps the secret marriage a secret. The Nurse believes in love and wants Juliet to have a nice-looking guy, but the idea is that Juliet would sacrifice anything for love to Romeo. The nurse is the success to the play because there is humor to the play.In act 1 Mercutio to Romeo a nd Juliet strong   because the play shows Romeo is on a quest for love. When Romeo talks about he is love sick for Rosaline and Benvolio makes him look at another girl and Mercutio says â€Å"[Romeo is] a lover borrow cupid’s wings and soar with them above a common bound† (1.4.21-16). The importance of this quote is because he trying cheer Romeo up from being love sick.
